A print of the painting by Alphonse M De Neuville depicting a scene during the defence of Rorke’s Drift, 22-23 January 1879.
This particular scene shows the evacuation of the Hospital building, now in flames, and the withdrawal to the inner perimeter barricade of biscuit tins.
The print includes a brief synopsis of the action and an indicator list of medal winners including Lieutenant J R M Chard VC.
