Indian Sappers and Miners 1818 – 1956. This composite painting by Johnny Jonas taken from photographs in Northern India circa 1925, depicts the three Indian Sapper and Miner Corps (Madras, Bengal and Bombay) at work on a site in the evening sunset. It was commissioned to mark the long association with the Indian Army Engineers from about 1818.
